Introduction:

Horizon Books offers tools, services, and a marketplace for self-published and other books. Digital copies of books (“Content”) are accepted by Horizon Books to be converted to print form when ordered or to be sold in electronic form as authorized.

Content:

When you upload Content to Horizon Books, you retain your copyright, but you grant Horizon Books the right to post, display, copy, and sell that Content within the limits you specify during the online publishing process.

If your Content includes any information that could identify you, such as your personal phone number, email address, or government-issued ID number (“Personal Data”), it will be included with your Content when sold. By including Personal Data in your Content, you authorize Horizon Books to disclose it as part of the Content. You may not include Personal Data about other individuals in your Content.

By posting your Content on the site, you grant Horizon Books the right to excerpt your Content, excluding any included Personal Data, for use in marketing materials. Horizon Books may also make minor technical modifications to the Content. You agree that Horizon Books may make such modifications but will typically seek your permission. Content marked as “Direct Access” or “Available only to me” will not be featured.

When uploading Content to the Site, you represent and warrant that the Content:

1. Is owned by you or that you have permission to provide it to Horizon Books as described, with no Personal Data about individuals other than yourself.

2. Does not infringe on any third-party copyright, trademark, or intellectual property rights.

3. Respects individuals’ rights of privacy or publicity.

4. Does not contain unlawful, obscene, defamatory, or objectionable material.

5. Does not include malicious code or violate any laws or regulations.

6. Does not promote fraudulent goods or services or contain commercial content.

7. Contains accurate factual information. Despite these representations, Horizon Books cannot guarantee the accuracy or quality of Content. Horizon Books reserves the right to refuse to publish any Content that violates these terms.

You also warrant that you have the legal capacity to enter into this Agreement without conflicting with other arrangements or agreements.

Responsibility of Content:

Users are solely responsible for the content they upload. Views expressed in user-generated content are personal opinions, and Horizon Books is not accountable for them. Horizon Books does not review content before publication and does not endorse the contents of any books published on the site. Users can be legally liable for the content of their books, including defamatory comments or copyright violations. Users agree to indemnify and hold Horizon Books harmless from any legal claims related to their content.

Privacy:

All user-provided information is confidential, and Horizon Books will not monitor or disclose private information unless required by law. Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account and passwords.

Payment Terms:

Writers will receive earnings (minus processing costs) through direct bank transfers, PayPal, or checks. It is the user’s responsibility to maintain accurate payment information. Horizon Books may introduce additional payment methods over time. For purchasing books and services on Horizon Books, payment forms specified on the checkout page or communicated by the Horizon Books team will be accepted.

Withdrawal of Content and Account Termination:

Users can request the removal of their content, which will take up to 48 working hours to be effective. Horizon Books reserves the right to fulfill orders received during this period and may retain content for archival purposes. Account deletion and removal of personal data may also take up to 48 working hours to take effect.

Disclaimer of Warranties:

Users acknowledge that the service is provided “as is” and “as available.” Horizon Books disclaims all warranties, including those regarding service interruptions, timeliness, security, and error correction. Users are responsible for any damage or data loss resulting from material downloaded through the service. Horizon Books makes no warranty regarding transactions conducted through the service. No advice or information from Horizon Books or the service creates any warranty not expressly stated herein.
