Dr. (Mrs.) S. Sharma, Prof. and Head, (b.17-10-1955) passed her M. A. Geography with Merit in 1977 She was awarded Ph. D. degree in Geography of Ravishankar University in 1983, on “Population Pattern and Problems in Madhya Pradesh”. She joined the Department in 1988 as Lecturer and then as Reader in 1998 and elevated as Professor in 2006. Dr. Sharma has 02 books to her credit, “Aoudyogik Nagron Me Jansankha Apravas” and “Dakshin Mahanadi Basin Me Gramin Shishu Matyarta”. She has 74 Research Papers in reputed Journals and edited books. Her field of specialization is Geography of population, Social Geography, and Agricultural Geography and Nutrition.

She has successfully guided 13 Ph. D. and 6 students are working and 90 M. Phil. students for Dissertation. She has carried out 01 Research projects Self financial assistance, 01 Minor Research Project sponsored by UGC and 01 Major Research Projects, “Chhattisgarh ke Nagron me Shishu Matyarta”, sponsored by UGC during 2011-2014. Dr. Sarla Sharma has actively participated in 12 International and 70 National Conferences and acted as Resource person, Chairperson, Co-chairperson and Rapporteur in Technical Sessions. She has also participated in field surveys carried out by M.A. and M. Phil. students. She is Life Member of several leading Learning societies like NAGI — Delhi, IIG- Pune, UBBP-Gorakhpur, APGI — Chandigarh, DGS- Pune, Practising Geographer – Kolkata, Nat. Geog. Soc. — Allahabad Nat. Geographer- Aligagh and INTACH and member of Editorial Board of Educational Waves and Practising Geographer. She has been a Co-opted Executive member NAGI (2010-11), Vice President of NAGI (Central Zone 2012- 2013 and member of Executive Council in IIG and NAGI. She has Member of National Organising Committee of National Seminar, HNB University, Srinagar, Garhwal, Uttarakhand and UGC Nominee of the UGC’s SAP Advisory committee Dept. Of Geography, Ranchi University, Ranchi, 2012 to till date. Dr. Sharma has also UGC Observer Committee Pane of JRF/ NET since 2010 to till date. She has been Chairperson of the Board of Studies in Geography in Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University Raipur from 2014 to till date and member of Autonomous Colleges of RaJnandgoan From 2014. Dr. Sharma has been the member of the organizing Committees of several National Seminars/Conferences organized by different SoS, Sports and Cultural activities, Convocation and other celebrations of the University. She has organized a National Workshop as Convener in 2014, and National Seminar as Co-convener in 2014. Major Achievements are Awarded Siksha Ratan Puraskar, by IIFS New Delhi, 2011, The Best Citizens of India Award by International Publishing House New Delhi, 2014, Geography Teacher Award, 2014 during 09th DGSI International Geography Conference, 2015, Eminent Scientist of the year Award 2014 by Scientific And Environmental Research Institute Kolkata, 2015, Distinguish Scientist of the year 2015 Award by International Foundation for Environment and Ecology, Kolkata, India and Bharat Excellence Award 2016 by , Friendship Forum, New Delhi.
