Diabetes, also known as Diabetes Mellitus, occurs when the body is unable to make proper use of glucose, its main energy source. As a result the level of glucose in the blood becomes too high – hyperglycemia. There are three main types of diabetes – type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes.  The management of diabetes is a major health challenge. Diabetes is rising day by day. India is going to become the hub for diabetes mellitus patients. Its prevalence is steadily increasing everywhere. Unfortunately lack of access to quality health care by the modern medicines is an important issue to be tackled by other therapeutic means. One of the most important therapeutic means may be indigenous products. Treatments for diabetes can include many options. In addition to conventional treatments there are certain claims made about various complementary and alternative treatments for diabetes. Complementary and alternative medicine includes health treatments that are not part of standard Western medical practice. The category encompasses a variety of disciplines that include everything from diet and exercise to mental conditioning and lifestyle changes.  The benefit of taking chromium and other minerals has been studied and debated for several years. Several studies suggest that chromium supplements may improve diabetes control, but at present we don’t have enough evidences. Ginseng has shown some sugar-lowering effects in fasting and after-meal blood sugar levels, as well as in A1c results but the studies were of very short term. But are the claims about various indigenous products and therapies accurate? For this we need evidences. The present research work was done to produce the evidences in support of Kasni seed and their preparations in management of hyperglycemias. The present work is a pioneer in the field of effectiveness of edible seeds on the diabetes mellitus. The book has been written in subsections. The beginning of book focuses on the impact of disease globally and the short term as well as long term consequences of the disease. Then it focuses on the existing therapies available in present era. The drawbacks of synthetic products and limitations have also been highlighted.   The next section is focusing on the methodologies used for this clinical study and subsequently the results have also been presented. The last section is devoted for the discussion of the possible hypothesis regarding the effectiveness of experimental seeds and the possible conclusions.
