Ever since demonetization, Dr. Fr. John P J has been thinking about publishing a book. He tossed the idea to us about what it could be and how we could go for really formalizing it. It just seemed like a neat idea, and gave us a ton of latitude to take things in our own way and focused heavily on the conceptualization of the entire process that could provide useful information about the impact of Demonetization to a broad audience.
We really can’t talk about the specifics of the book, but there were many aspects of the book that we would love to share. The journey started with the identification of the editors, followed by a search for eminent research scholars whose research contribution can make the contents of the book worth. Understanding the vast impact, Demonetization had to various sectors of the economy, the research scholars were asked to work on different areas and sectors which were directly or indirectly affected by the process of demonetization.
The title of the book “Demonetization- Mirror or Mirage” was aptly suggested by Ms. Geetu Choudhary, H.O.D. Economics, as it depicts the then current situation, which positively as well as negatively affected life of common man. The editorial board and the researchers together as a team tried to document the whole event that shocked the nation in a very simple manner. The publishing of this book is therefore accomplishing the dream of our Father Principal; Dr. John P. J. showcasing the after effect of Demonetization on various aspects of life.
